Blank Body is an intermedia audiovisual work by Drew Wesely released Nov. 2022 via Infrequent Seams. The material drawn from improvisations on prepared guitar and other objects, Blank Body explores the possibilities the recorded medium affords such as physically impossible musical transitions and binaural spatialization, yet is imbued with the vitality of a live performance. The accompanying vellum art book provides a visual analog as photographs, shapes, and textures emerge from and return to non-existence as the semi-transparent pages are turned like individual frames of a film.

hypersurface is an improvising trio founded in 2018 to explore the fractal levels of form that emerge through improvisation. On first meeting the music had a certain vitality and freedom to it that was immediately palpable. it seemed to flow from itself with a kind of transparency that didn’t necessitate any particular sound to be maintained or sustained as a role in the overall texture but, rather, allowed for collective interdependent phrases to come in and out of focus creating a modular effect in which multiple levels of timbre, density, and rhythmic activity are available at any given moment.
this debut recording was made in the summer of 2019 in a surplus warehouse in south brooklyn engineered, mixed, and mastered by nathaniel morgan.
